Job summary

Stratus Team, LLC seeks a Civil Design Engineer in Wilkesboro, NC to join the design team. You will support senior engineers in developing engineering solutions, preparing drawings, calculations, and models, and assist with field data collection and documentation in a collaborative, entry-level role.

The position emphasizes learning standard practices, applying codes, and contributing to project deliverables while working in a hybrid environment with colleagues across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 0-1 year of engineering design or internship experience.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) in internship or academic setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of engineering designs, preparing technical drawings, calculations, and models under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Use CAD and other design software to create and modify engineering drawings and plans, ensuring adherence to project specifications and company standards.
• Conduct research on materials, codes, and regulations to support design efforts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to gather technical input and integrate various engineering systems into designs.
• Participate in project meetings, taking notes and providing updates on assigned tasks to ensure that design development is on track.
• Assist in preparing project documentation, including design reports, calculations, and specifications, for review by senior engineers.
• Conduct field visits or site inspections to gather data or assist in assessing existing conditions as needed.
• Support quality control efforts by reviewing design deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

Education

The Role

The Civil Design Engineer is an entry-level engineering role responsible for supporting the design team in developing engineering solutions for projects.
