About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction and development firm, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Civil Engineering Manager to lead their engineering department in Upington, Northern Cape . This senior role involves overseeing all aspects of civil engineering design, planning, and project execution for the company's diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for managing a team of civil engineers, ensuring adherence to project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles, and a proven track record in managing large-scale projects. This is a critical leadership position contributing to significant developments in the Northern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the civil engineering team, providing technical guidance and professional development.
• Oversee the design, planning, and execution of all civil engineering projects undertaken by the company.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Ensure all engineering designs and projects comply with relevant standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other departments, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in managing diverse civil engineering projects (e.g., infrastructure, construction, land development).
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers.
• Strong understanding of project management principles, contract administration, and risk management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and project management tools.
• Strategic thinking and strong decision-making capabilities.
• Must be able to work full-time from our Upington office.
