Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our growing southeast team, based in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC. You will assist in a range of projects including Industrial & Commercial Land Development, Solar, and Mining, under supervision of experienced engineers.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Civil Engineering, 0–3 years of experience, and may hold an EIT. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; Civil 3D is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program (or equivalent).
• 0–3 years of experience.
• EIT certificate preferred.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete civil engineering designs and generate construction plans and specifications.
• Prepare technical calculations, exhibits and reports.
• Develop various Civil 3D plans and maps with alignments and grading features.
• Collaborate with engineers and project leaders to develop designs.
• Follow project schedules and hours set by the Project Manager.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.

Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our growing southeast engineering team. The ideal candidates will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to Industrial & Commercial Land Development, Solar, Mining, and other engineering projects.

This position will be based in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.

Under supervision and working with experienced staff, the successful candidates will complete civil engineering designs and the generation of construction plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits and reports in the following areas:

• Utilize Civil 3D including alignments, profiles and grading features to produce engineered construction plans and sheet set ups.
• Basic understanding of Site Grading & Storm Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control and Storm Water Best Management Practices with strong desire to learn and an interest in civil engineering design
• Variety of Civil 3D Plans, maps, and exhibits
• Work in conjunction with civil engineers and project leaders to develop engineering designs
• Follow project schedules and allotted hours by Project manager
• Follow internal and/or client procedures and standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving and good communication skills
• Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others
• Evaluating design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges
• Performing site visits to perform job scoping and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
• Self-starter who can work independently and with team members

Position Requirements:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent
• 0-3 years of experience
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred
• Basic knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D is preferred.
