Job summary

County of Berks is seeking an Office Support for the Civil Division to receive documents related to the Original Process and report service details to the Court of Common Pleas.

The role requires basic clerical skills, ability to handle confidential information, and strong communication. The position is office-based with standard hours and offers a starting hourly rate of $23.22 for 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma required.
  • Experience in the civil and/or criminal judicial system preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process all documents relating to Original Process.
  • Report details of services to Court of Common Pleas.
  • Calculate costs payable to the Sheriff relating to service of Original Process.
  • Process subpoenas and provide service details to Reading Central Court.
  • Update and maintain the Jail List with service details.
  • Process all Protection from Abuse Orders and report details of service in PFAD.
  • Assist the Real Estate Administrator with Sheriff’s Sale documents and filings.
  • Process all Domestic Relations Services and provide service details to DRO.
  • Assist the public, in person and by phone, with office questions.
  • Other tasks as needed to support operations.
