Job summary

GHD seeks a Civil Construction Cost Engineer to join our Project Controls team in a role focused on cost estimation, constructability reviews, and early-stage planning for heavy civil and marine projects. You will develop accurate estimates for complex public works infrastructure and coordinate with engineering and design teams.

The position supports a hybrid work model with offices in CA, Seattle, WA or Phoenix, AZ and requires 5+ years of relevant experience in civil projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in civil, heavy civil, infrastructure, buildings or marine projects.
• Experience with estimating, construction management or design is acceptable as a combination.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical works is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimating: Develop comprehensive, detailed estimates using unit-priced and L-M-E methods.
• Unit cost familiarity: Apply bid unit costs and cost indexes for estimating.
• Conceptual & Early-Stage Planning: Formulate high-level cost forecasts and feasible budgets.
• Constructability Reviews: Evaluate designs to identify risks and cost-saving options.
• Construction Scheduling: Prepare/assist schedules from blueprints and estimates; review schedules.
• Diverse Asset Coverage: Include airports, bridges, treatment plants, pipelines, roads, parks, coastal restorations.
• Coastal Infrastructure Specialization: Price wharf repairs, headlands, dredging, beach replenishments.
• Team Integration: Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams.
