We have an excellent opportunity for a Civil Construction Technician to join our Northern IL Construction Team. This position is responsible for providing construction phase services, including inspection and documentation, for IDOT, Tollway, county, and municipal infrastructure projects around NE Illinois.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide inspection and documentation services on civil construction projects (roadway, bridge, and intersection improvements) for public sector clients throughout NE Illinois.
- Read and interpret construction plans and documents, compute quantities, and verify measurements and layouts.
- Perform site data collection and verify existing conditions; assist with surveying.
- Maintain detailed daily logs and submit progress reports and pay documentation.
- Collaborate with other construction and design staff to complete projects on budget.
- Work productively with all project stakeholders (contractor, owner, and others) to resolve issues professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma or GED is required; A.S. degree in Construction Technology or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience performing inspection and documentation on road, bridge, and intersection improvements.
- Current IDOT certification for materials and documentation is required; familiarity with IDOT and IL Tollway materials and documentation procedures is desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel and Word) is required.
- Experience with e-Builder, Primavera, CMMS, MISTIC, CEPS, and I-MIRS is desired.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed daily logs and follow through on punch list items.
- Effective communication skills to work with all project stakeholders.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to project sites as needed.
