Job Overview

Civil Construction Representative – report to the Construction Services Team and support infrastructure projects by ensuring compliance, documentation and communication across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Observe construction on transportation, civil, and municipal infrastructure projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications.
• Document day‑to‑day field and inspection activities and measure quantities.
• Prepare for and assist with preconstruction, progress and conflict resolution meetings.
• Interact and communicate with clients, contractors and SEH personnel.
• Carry out CAD production activities using AutoCAD or MicroStation while in the office.
• Support proposal development, project budgeting and scheduling, and constructability reviews.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) or more years of experience as a Construction Project Representative or in a related role.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in varied weather conditions and to walk and climb rough terrain associated with construction sites.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record as required by SEH’s Driving Program.
• Willingness to travel for team meetings, client consultations, on‑site observations, and occasional overnight travel.
• Availability to work overtime when needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Six (6) or more years of experience as a Construction Project Representative on DOT, County, or Municipal projects involving earthwork, concrete, bituminous paving, site improvements, and street/utility construction.
• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Possession of applicable DOT Technical Certifications or the intent to obtain them within six months.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
