Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Construction Inspector 1 in Spokane, WA to observe and document construction progress on civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and water facilities. You will monitor field activities, perform material sampling and testing, and report to a Senior Inspector.

The role requires a high school diploma, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to work independently and in a team within HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction progress for civil projects (roads, bridges, water facilities).
• Monitor, record and inspect project progress and field materials sampling/testing.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing (concrete slump, air testing, soil compaction).
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector 1, we’ll count on you to:

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
• WAQTC Certifications
• WSDOT Construction Inspector Certification
• BNSF & ERail Safe Certifications

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
