Job description

Join to apply for the Civil Construction Inspector 1 role at HDR.

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector I, you'll be responsible for:

1. Conducting and documenting observations of construction progress for civil projects such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
2. Monitoring, recording, and inspecting construction activities.
3. Coordinating field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
4. Performing duties under general supervision from the Senior Inspector.
5. Performing other related duties as needed.

Preferred qualifications include a Technical school or Associate degree, some experience in construction inspection, ability to interpret construction schedules, and at least 3 years of employment in civil, highway, or relevant engineering fields, with at least one year in field inspection activities. NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction is preferred unless the candidate holds a current PE license registered in CT or a BS in a relevant field. Local candidates are preferred.

Required qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, experience with MS Office, strong written communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a commitment to the company's culture. The position requires passing drug screening procedures and adherence to drug and alcohol testing policies.
