Job summary

RG Construction Services, LLC. is seeking a detail-oriented Civil Estimator in Albuquerque, NM to lead pre-construction cost estimates and support the General Manager with project management tasks.

The ideal candidate has civil construction field experience and strong knowledge of estimating principles, including industrial mechanical and plumbing projects. Proficiency in MS Project and related PM tools is required.

Qualifications

• Previous civil construction field experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of estimating principles, esp. for industrial mechanical and plumbing projects.
• Proficiency in construction management software and related programs.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build contractor/supplier relationships.
• Solid understanding of PM processes within construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and contracts.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. This position requires a strong understanding of construction management and estimating processes, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively with contractors and suppliers. Additionally, this role will involve some project management work as assistance to the General Manager who oversees all projects.

Must be willing and able to meet federal requirements in order to obtain and maintain DOE site access.

Duties

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.


• Collaborate with project managers to understand project requirements and scope.


• Utilize software tools such as McCormick, Project Sight, and Microsoft Project for efficient estimating and project management.


• Conduct site visits to gather information on project conditions and requirements.


• Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best possible rates.


• Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to projects.


• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new projects.


• Monitor project budgets throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to estimated costs.


• Perform some project management tasks as required by the needs of the business and Project Management team; including, but not limited to project initiation, leading project kick-off meetings, RFIs, Submittals, and communicating with vendors/clients and internal teams.

This position can occasionally be physically challenging. MUST be physically able to lift over 25lb and safely walk active job sites.
