Job summary

COA Network Inc. is seeking an experienced estimator in Omaha to prepare cost estimates for bids and negotiated proposals.

You will develop economical construction methods, produce comprehensive deliverables, and support subcontractor pricing while collaborating with operations and field teams. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, plus 3+ years estimating experience and proficiency with estimating software and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field preferred.
• 3+ years estimating experience; 5+ years construction experience preferred.
• Experience with large general contracting projects and multi‑million to multi‑billion estimates.

Job Description
What you will be doing:

• Prepare cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
  
• Develop more economical ways to construct projects.
  
• Provide comprehensive deliverables for major estimates.
  
• Apply company processes and tools to develop project estimates.
  
• Perform quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.
  
• Read and outline project specifications.
  
• Maintain an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
  
• Support vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
  
• Support the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
  
• Work collaboratively and create relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  
• Gain self‑perform estimating experience.
  
• Gain field operational exposure through onsite project support.
  
• Prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
  
• Prepare material and other costs summary for quotes from vendors.
  
• Track value creation items from development through inclusion and document in project documentation.
  
• Develop and manage scopes of work for all trades.

Experience you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
  
• 3+ years estimating experience.
  
• Preference for total of 5+ years construction experience.
  
• This candidate should have large general contracting experience and has worked on estimates from $80M-1.2B.
  
• Intermediate communication skills, verbal and written.
  
• Ability to conduct effective presentations.
  
• Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on strong Excel skills (Intermediate).
  
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications (Intermediate).
  
• Proficiency in construction estimating software (Intermediate).
  
• Proficiency in required construction technology.
  
• Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management (Intermediate).
  
• Knowledge of field operations through project support.
  
• Ability to prepare quantity surveys.
  
• Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
  
• Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (Intermediate).
  
• Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity.
  
• Ability to develop General Requirement estimates.
  
• Ability to develop proficiency in Lens, Revit and/or ASE software.
  
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
  
• Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
