Job summary

DOWL is seeking an Intern to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection team for Summer 2027. This role provides engineering assistance to manage, administer, and inspect civil infrastructure projects and in-service inspections of structures.

As a member of the team, you will work under supervision on existing projects, support field surveys and calculations, and gain practical experience in construction engineering and inspection in a fast-paced, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum one to two years of college-level coursework in civil/environmental/construction engineering technology or related field.
• Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering related fields is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Establish and document existing conditions at project sites through research and site visits.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to construction projects to monitor quality and progress of the work.
• Perform construction inspection of transportation and heavy civil projects.
• Assist in the in-service inspection of structures including bridges, walls, culverts, and tanks.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
