Job summary

Emery Sapp & Sons in Columbia, MO, is seeking a Civil Construction CAD / Data Prep Specialist to translate civil plans into buildable 3D models and survey data. This is a full-time, office-based role with no remote work.

You will support heavy civil and infrastructure projects, collaborating with Project Managers, Survey, and Engineering teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in civil CAD or construction data prep.
• Background in surveying or field construction is valued.
• Experience with Trimble Business Center preferred (training provided).
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or similar.
• Strong math skills (geometry, measurements, grades, slopes).
• Proficiency with CAD software and general computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain 3D surface models and construction files for GPS- and Total Station-controlled equipment
• Prepare survey staking files and construction data for field crews
• Convert civil plans into accurate, constructible CAD models
• Perform grade checks and quality control on models and files
• Collaborate with Survey, Project Managers, and Engineers to resolve conflicts
