Job summary

Southern Contracting, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of heavy civil construction projects. You will work with Project Managers and Superintendents to review plans, manage submittals, coordinate schedules, vendors, and subcontractors, and help ensure safety and quality on site.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree or Construction Management, 1+ years in heavy civil, and a desire to grow into leadership.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required to meet federal project requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 1+ years in heavy civil construction preferred; strong academic backgrounds welcome.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to pass State & Federal background checks to access military bases and Federal facilities.
• Civil Engineer license or progress toward licensure is a plus.

In this role, you'll work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure smooth project execution-from reviewing plans and submittals to coordinating schedules, vendors, and subcontractors. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to pass State & Federal background checks to access military bases and Federal facilities.
• Civil Engineer license or active progress toward licensure is a plus.

Projects may require travel to various sites; per diem is provided.
