Southern Contracting, LLC is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support delivery of heavy civil construction projects. You will work with Project Managers and Superintendents to review plans, manage submittals, generate POs, and coordinate schedules, vendors, and subcontractors.

The role suits recent graduates or early-career professionals with a Civil Engineering or Construction Management background and offers growth toward leadership within a mission-driven, federal-contractor environment.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required) or Construction Management (preferred).
• 1+ years of experience in heavy civil construction preferred, entry-level candidates with strong academics encouraged.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to pass State & Federal background checks to access military bases and Federal facilities.
• Civil Engineer license or active progress toward licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans and specifications to ensure accuracy in the construction process.
• Assist with reviewing and managing project submittals.
• Generate purchase orders and track material deliveries.
