Job summary

Washington County Government is seeking an Engineering Technician III to join the Engineering department. The role involves preparing plans for capital improvement projects, performing field and office work, and supporting design through AutoCAD Civil 3D, with guidance from the Director of Engineering and the Chief of Design.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in engineering technology, architectural technology, or related field.
• 2 years’ experience in engineering and/or construction related projects desirable.
• Comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs office and field work necessary to complete preliminary and final engineering for various projects.
• Prepares engineering designs and construction documents for capital improvement projects using computer aided design (AutoCAD / Civil 3D) and other design methods.
• Maintains and may administer the computer aided design drafting system.
• Performs engineering calculations for roads, structures, and other capital improvement plan projects.
• Maintains files and related engineering documents.
• Assists in the development and/or review of construction work plans, as-built drawings, survey data, and other related work elements as necessary to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepares preliminary construction cost estimates and bid specifications.
• Performs related tasks as required.
