Job summary

Washington County is seeking a responsible professional to prepare and oversee engineering plans and studies for buildings, parks, and public works capital improvement projects under the direction of the Director of Public Works.

The role involves coordinating with county staff, other government agencies, and consultants, producing construction drawings, cost estimates, and bid documents, and providing technical support across divisions. A PE license is desirable, and the deadline is approaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture.
• 3 years of experience in the design and/or construction of public works capital improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews construction drawings using CAD.
• Prepares drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Manages Architecture and Engineering consultant work; prepares scopes of work and bid documents.
• Addresses design and construction issues with contractors and consultants.
• Provides technical support to Division departments and agencies.
• Prepares feasibility, life-cycle cost, and cost-benefit studies.
