Job summary

Langan International, LLC in Chicago, IL is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to join its collaborative team. This role supports planning, design and permitting of civil engineering and land development projects including mixed-use, shopping centers, residential and higher education developments.

The position offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience with site/civil design in a continuous learning environment and to contribute to innovative infrastructure projects in a dynamic office network.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years in Site/Civil design and site planning.
  • Familiar with local, state, and federal permitting processes.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred; Civil 3D helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and modification of engineering documents and plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Analyze maps, drawings, and topographical data to support planning and design.
  • Perform zoning, permit assessments, and feasibility studies for projects.
  • Attend client and team meetings with project personnel.
  • Collaborate with team members across offices; assist other groups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to join its collaborative team in Chicago, IL.This individual will serve a key function inassisting with the planning, design and permitting of civil engineering and land development infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in site/civil engineering design for mixed‑use developments, shopping centers, residential, higher education, federal, and other exciting land development projects in a continuous learning environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assistwith the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including due diligence assessments, reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
  • Effectively usereports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
  • Performzoning, ordinance and permit assessments, determinethe feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data, and prepareconcept plans and site test‑fits using tenant‑specific criteria;
  • Attendclient and team meetings with project personnel;
  • Collaboratewith team members on project tasks and assignments. Assistother work groups across offices and disciplines on an as‑needed basis; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, or related field preferred;
  • 1+ years’ experience in Site/Civil design, including site planning
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting;
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi‑task effectively and excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year.
