Job summary

Michael Baker International in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a Civil Associate I, Highway to support our highway design group. The successful candidate will assist with roadway design tasks and 3D corridor modeling on large interstate reconstruction projects, with exposure to PennDOT, design-build, and municipal projects.

The role offers opportunities across project management, technical management, and client service, with hands-on design experience and collaboration within a team of engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 0–2 years of highway design and engineering experience.
• Prior DOT/PennDOT highway design standards experience is a plus.
• Experience with 3D modeling, Bentley OpenRoads is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on design and production of highway construction drawings.
• Assist with project bid documents, including plans, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Prepare 3D corridor models and design calculations.
• Coordinate with Project and Task Managers on progress.
• Support site visits and report findings.
• Ensure tasks stay within budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
