Job summary

City of Philadelphia is seeking a Recreation Programming Coordinator to plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate citywide recreation activities across one of several assignment areas. The role includes developing and implementing a comprehensive citywide program and supervising a mix of staff and volunteers.

The candidate will establish effective relationships with departmental personnel, community organizations, and the public while coordinating available program resources.

Qualifications

• CANDIDATES must meet Civil Service status: currently employed with permanent civil service status in the Department of Parks & Recreation with a satisfactory performance rating.
• Education: completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• General Experience: two years of recreation work experience.
• Specific Experience: two years of work as a Recreation Leader 2 or above.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate citywide recreation activities and programs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive citywide recreation program across assignment areas.
• Supervise seasonal, temporary, volunteer, and/or permanent staff as required.
• Establish strong working relationships with departmental personnel, community organizations, businesses, parents, and the public.
