Job summary

Louisville Hotel Partnership is seeking a Director of Business Development to originate and qualify citywide convention and trade show opportunities in North America. This independent contractor role emphasizes new business growth, relationship development, and strategic pipeline management.

With 8–15 years in convention sales, you will engage executives, manage a value-driven pipeline, and coordinate with Louisville Tourism for proposals while remaining strategically involved through the sales

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred and 8–15 years in convention or destination sales.
• Proven track record in identifying and generating high-value opportunities.
• Experience with hunter-oriented business development and large events is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Originate and qualify new citywide convention, trade show, and corporate group opportunities.
• Develop a robust pipeline through strategic prospecting and market research.
• Maintain executive-level relationships with associations and decision-makers.
• Coordinate with Louisville Tourism teams for proposal development and bid support.
• Report pipeline activity and KPIs to leadership per contract terms.
• Travel extensively across North America to pursue opportunities.
