Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco seeks an experienced Engineer (5241) for exempt to permanent advancement. The role involves leading professional engineers, supervising staff and consultants, and delivering a wide range of building, bridge, road, sewer and wastewater projects under Civil Service rules.

Applicants must have a CA Professional Engineer license in a relevant discipline and at least five years of qualifying experience.

Qualifications

Current City exempt employee in 5241 class with 2080 hours
Five years professional engineering experience
CA Professional Engineer registration in civil/mechanical/electrical/chemical/traffic

Responsibilities

Supervises professional and technical engineering personnel, including consultants, in preparation of studies, designs, cost estimates and contract documents.
Reviews bids for conformance with specs and awards; negotiates contracts and changes; resolves disputes.
Monitors inspections of major engineering projects and coordinates field staff.
Prepares designs, drawings and specs to meet project objectives and budgets; performs complex calculations.
Reviews proposals and bids; assigns work to engineers and technicians to meet project demands.
Analyzes and solves complex engineering problems across civil, environmental, water/wastewater, or transportation disciplines.
