Job summary

The City of Fairburn is seeking a General Services Worker to maintain street-related infrastructure, parks, and city facilities. You will work as part of a team, operating equipment such as mowers, loaders, and backhoes, and assist with road projects and events.

This on-site role requires a high school diploma or GED, 4 years of related experience, and a valid Georgia driver’s license. A safety-sensitive position with potential weather-related callouts and emergency duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid State of Georgia driver’s license required.
• Flagging certification for traffic control preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair city streets/roads, drainage, right-of-way, parks and recreation facilities.
• Operate and support a range of equipment and tools used in city projects (dump truck, backhoe, loader, mower, saw, etc.).
• Assist with special events setup, traffic control, litter pickup and holiday decorations.
• Respond to emergencies and weather events; communicate with supervisor to coordinate work.
