Job description

This position involves performing unskilled and semi-skilled work related to the repair and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, drains, and gutters, as well as right-of-way cleaning. The role includes operating equipment, pouring concrete, cleaning storm drains, driving trucks, and flagging traffic, among other duties.

Responsibilities include:

• Removing and replacing broken asphalt
• Operating jackhammers, tampers, air compressors, and gas-powered equipment
• Forming, pouring, and finishing concrete structures
• Building head walls, laying concrete blocks, bricks, and pipes
• Cleaning storm drains, gutters, and catch basins
• Driving various trucks and flagging traffic
• Checking drainage pipes during rainstorms
• Performing truck maintenance and cleaning
• Performing additional duties as assigned, especially during heavy workloads or emergencies

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least two years of heavy manual construction experience
• Georgia "Class B" CDL and a clean driving record preferred
• Skills in concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing
• Knowledge of operating construction equipment
• Good communication skills and basic math skills
• Must obtain a Georgia Department of Transportation Flagging Certificate within 3 months of hire
