The City of Hallandale Beach is hiring an entry-level Utilities Service Worker I responsible for maintenance and operation of water and wastewater systems. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience in related fields, and obtaining necessary certifications within specified timelines.
Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, wastewater, streets, meters, and storm drainage systems. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
High school diploma or GED. (1) year of experience in water or wastewater system maintenance, irrigation systems, plumbing, or stormwater maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) and maintain the ability to drive a city-owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and maintain a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. Within one (1) year of hire, must participate in Trench & Confined Safety Training.
The current position is an entry-level position within the division of Wastewater Collections, Water Distribution, Meter Services, Streets Division, and Stormwater Collections.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions established to perform this job successfully.
