Job summary

The City of Santa Rosa is seeking a City Planner to join its Planning & Economic Development team. The role covers development reviews, environmental analysis, and staff presentations to planning bodies and the City Council.

Responsibilities include coordinating with applicants, reviewing proposals, and providing timely customer service while advancing long-range planning and policy initiatives. Bachelors in Planning and 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Planning or related field; one year professional planning experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively; GIS and permit software knowledge desirable.
• Experience with environmental review, land use planning, and public counter serving is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review development proposals for consistency with the general plan, zoning and design standards.
• Provide staff reports and recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.
• Coordinate with applicants and city departments; manage application workflows.
• Present planning information to boards and community groups.
