Job summary

The City of Santa Rosa is seeking a City Planner to join the Development Review team and manage a range of professional planning assignments. You will review new development applications, prepare and present staff reports, and work with applicants, board members, and city staff to ensure sound planning decisions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, experience evaluating land use proposals, and a commitment to serving a diverse community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Planning or related field and at least one year of professional planning experience.
• Experience analyzing and reviewing development and land use proposals.
• Experience presenting staff reports to Planning Commission and City Council.
• Knowledge of GIS and permit software desirable.
• Spanish language ability is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review and process development and entitlement applications.
• Review environmental documents and building permits for planning compliance.
• Prepare and present staff reports to the Zoning Administrator, Design Review and Preservation Board, Planning Commission, and City Council.
• Provide timely customer service and coordinate with applicants and departments.
• Assist in long-range planning and policy initiatives as needed.
