Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of city planning principles and practices.
• Familiar with Tennessee statutes, city charter and planning/zoning codes.
• Ability to prepare maps, charts, sketches and graphics.
• Knowledge of socio-economic data sources and research methods.
• Ability to plan and conduct moderately complex research independently.
• Strong written and oral communication; able to present results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately difficult, varied planning assignments (rezoning analysis, general plan research, neighborhood planning, annexation).
• Gather and correlate data for planning projects and analyze zoning issues.
• Prepare preliminary determinations and recommendations on planning and zoning projects.
• Write reports and correspondence for each phase of work.
• Assist in planning research projects and maintain supporting files and exhibits.
• Present casework to boards and commissions as required.
