Job summary

Vineyard City is seeking a Planner 1 or Planner 2 to support current and long-range planning, review development applications, and guide the City’s growth. The role varies by level, with Planner 2 taking on more independent, complex assignments and mentoring junior staff.

The position offers opportunities to manage subdivisions, site plans, and land-use amendments while coordinating with multiple departments and presenting findings to public bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a closely related field.
• Planner 1: at least one year of professional planning experience.
• Planner 2: minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and processes development applications (subdivisions, site plans, conditional use permits).
• Interprets and applies zoning ordinances and development standards.
• Coordinates development reviews with Engineering, Building, and other City departments.
• Prepares staff reports, presentations, and recommendations for Planning Commission and City Council.
• Leads long-range planning initiatives and GIS mapping as needed.
• Provides zoning and development information to residents and developers.
