Job summary

The City of Golden, Colorado seeks an experienced City Manager to lead a team delivering essential services and to implement the Council's directives. You will oversee planning, budgeting, and operations, guiding staff to achieve strategic objectives and uphold ethical standards.

As a visible, data‑driven leader, you’ll engage with residents and regional partners, sustain service excellence, and drive innovation while maintaining fiscal discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) plus ten years’ related professional experience required.
• Graduate degree in public administration preferred with five years leadership in a comparable organization.
• Strong management experience in finance, public safety, infrastructure, and employee relations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages the City’s annual budget in accordance with City Council directives.
• Executes the goals and deliverables in City Council’s Strategic Action Plan.
• Ensures timely resolution of inquiries or complaints of city services.
• Identifies challenges and opportunities for continuous improvement of city services.
• Liaises with other cities and outside agencies; negotiates and resolves significant issues with City Council guidance.
• Monitors organizational structure and employee satisfaction.
• Maintains high ethical, personal, and professional standards.
• Participates on boards and professional groups; stays informed of trends in public administration.
• Carries out additional duties listed in the City Charter.
