Job summary

Town Of Waltham is seeking a maintenance worker to care for city parks, cemeteries, streets, sidewalks, and other properties. The role involves routine maintenance, operating power equipment, and responding to storms or snow events.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma, hoisting license, CDL, and 1–3 years of related experience, plus CORI, physical, lift test, and drug/alcohol screening. Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Hoisting license is required to operate heavy equipment.
• Commercial driver's license (CDL) is required to operate backhoes and loaders.
• 1–3 years of verifiable related experience is required.
• Must pass CORI, pre-employment physical, lift test and drug/alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and cares for parks, cemeteries, streets, sidewalks, and city properties.
• Schedules and performs routine maintenance functions and reports unsafe conditions.
• Safely operates power machinery and responds to storms or snow emergencies.
• Performs snow removal, including plowing and shoveling, and may trim grass or rake.
• Orders parts and supplies and maintains stock and inventory records.
• Operates front-end loader to load sand, salt and gravel for snow removal.
• Reports unsafe conditions or mechanical issues to supervisor.
• Operates trucks and performs basic truck maintenance tasks as directed.
• Maintains clean and organized garage area and related duties as assigned.
