Job summary

The New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Division for School Facilities seeks a City Laborer, Logistical Operations to support operations across NYCPS sites. You will perform manual labor, move and lift items, and may operate hand or power tools or motor vehicles as required.

There are no formal education or experience requirements; medical and physical requirements apply. This role reports to the Trucking Supervisor and may oversee daily tasks of other laborers as assigned.

Position Summary:

The New York City Public Schools’s (NYCPS) Division for School Facilities (DSF) is dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that is conducive in educating and nurturing our children most economically and efficiently possible. DSF oversees approximately 130 million square feet of floor space in over 1,300 separate sites throughout the five boroughs of the City of New York. DSF employs approximately 500 mechanics, 900 custodian engineers, 100 building managers, and approximately 300 other employees with administrative or technical expertise in the fields of facilities management, engineering, environmental health, administration, accounting, construction, planning, and project management.

The City Laborer, Logistical Operations performs common unskilled laboring work requiring physical strength. Moves, lifts and carries items of various weights and sizes. May utilize hand or power driven equipment in the performance of duties. May be required to operate motor vehicles in connection with the performance of duties. By assignment, may oversee the daily activities of other laborers in the performance of their duties. Performs related work.

License Requirements

Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. For appointment to certain positions, possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) valid in the State of New York may be required. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) during their employment.

Salary

331.92 Daily Rate

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
