Job summary

City of Melissa is seeking an IT Manager (FTExempt) to lead the City’s information technology and telecommunications strategy. You will direct the IT department, ensure secure service delivery, and drive a robust 5-year technology plan aligned with city needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT-related field.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Direct city-wide IT and telecommunications systems and service delivery.
• Design, implement, monitor and maintain the 5-year technology plan.
• Manage programs, contracts, services, and activities including security.
• Prepare IT budget and forecast staffing, equipment, and supplies.
• Establish project priorities with City staff and resolve IT issues.
• Develop and enforce policies to improve IT productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure continuity of operations in the absence of the IT leadership.
• Oversee installations of new or replacement IT systems and inventory.
• Coordinate privacy and security policy implementation and training.
• Conduct risk assessments and security standard development.
• Negotiate with vendors for cost-effective hardware and software.
• Train and supervise staff; improve processes and efficiency.
• Develop subordinates’ knowledge and skills for success.
• Provide routine monthly reports and special assignments as needed.
• Disseminate information security awareness to City employees.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
