Job summary

The City of Grain Valley seeks a City Engineer to apply advanced engineering and supervisory principles across civil, structural, water resources, traffic, and contract administration. You will plan, design, and implement municipal projects to support the city’s infrastructure and development goals.

Responsibilities include capital project management, bid and contract administration, technical review, and coordination with agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• At least four (4) years of experience as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT).
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Missouri.
• Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job and meets licensing requirements.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, program, design and implement municipal projects.
• Manage capital improvement projects from conceptual design through construction.
• Prepare bid documents, evaluate contractor proposals and administer contracts.
• Coordinate plan reviews with utilities and agencies to obtain permits and approvals.
• Supervise inspections of construction materials and ensure adherence to city standards.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for MS4 permit and capital plans.
• Review development plans for compliance with city codes and standards.
• Assist in traffic studies and transportation planning.
• Interact with the public and respond to engineering inquiries.
• Lead staff and coordinate with inspectors and consultants.
