Job summary

The City of East Point in Georgia is seeking a supervisory labor lead to maintain city right-of-ways and public grounds. You will supervise field crews, select equipment, and ensure work follows safety rules and city policies while coordinating with other departments.

Qualified applicants will have a High School diploma, 5 years of related experience with at least 2 years in supervision, and a valid Georgia Class B CDL with a clean MVR.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; five years of progressively responsible related experience, with two years of supervisory experience; GA Class B CDL and a satisfactory MVR.
• Knowledge of operating and maintaining small engine equipment.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations and standards related to safety and maintenance.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques in construction/maintenance tasks.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices in supervised work.
• Ability to supervise labor crews and organize crews to meet deadlines.
• Ability to read charts, diagrams, and blueprints; communicate effectively.
• Ability to establish working relationships with management, employees and the public.

Responsibilities

• Supervises labor crews in the field.
• Maintains city facilities and grounds including right-of-ways and landscaping.
• Selects equipment and materials; adapts tools to meet requirements.
• Provides equipment and transportation for crews.
• Assists crews and operates heavy equipment as needed.
• Ensures crews follow safety guidelines.
• Coordinates work with other departments and agencies.
• Ensures compliance with safety laws and regulations.
• Performs other related duties.
