Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Manager-Events to oversee all events and special events planning across City departments. You will ensure compliance with policies, coordinate art-related process, and manage budgets and staffing for successful city-wide events.

You will lead managers and coordinators, drive schedules, and supervise staff while maintaining strong communication across media and departments to deliver engaging, compliant events for the community.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general business practices and laws.
• Knowledge of planning and managing events.
• Knowledge of departmental management, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of conservation project, public art management, and community engagement practices.

Responsibilities

• Manages event planning, coordination for events, festivals, parades, and conferences; guides departments on event execution.
• Directs staff and coordinates priorities, schedules, resources, and work plans.
• Oversees public art selection, contracting, fabrication, invoicing, payments, and installation approvals.
• Plans and implements festivals and special events with clear policies and regulations guidance.
• Allocates budgets and resources, prioritizes funding for events, and seeks additional funding.
• Communicates with staff and clients to track event details and logistics in databases and reports.
• Interviews staff and manages workflow; guides staff on social media messaging for events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
