Job summary

City of Sarasota, Engineering Department, is seeking an experienced engineering leader to assist the Director/City Engineer in managing the City's engineering and right-of-way programs. This role coordinates with consultants, reviews major projects, and supervises engineering staff to ensure timely delivery and compliance with standards.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, be a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida, and have several years of supervisory government

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering plus five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience in the management of governmental engineering functions.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation within six (6) months of employment is required.
• A Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists the Director in planning, design, coordination and review of activities within the Engineering Department.
• Coordinates liaison between consultants, construction contractors and the City for major projects.
• Provides progress reports on major projects and responds to inquiries from the public.
