Job summary

The City of New York seeks a City Custodial Assistant to help keep Department facilities clean and safe across Citywide locations. You will perform custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, basins cleaning, trash disposal, and light maintenance to support staff and visitors.

There are no formal education or experience requirements, but medical and physical requirements apply. Residency within NYC is generally required, with potential exceptions discussed during interviews.

The Facilities Management Division plays a critical role in keeping Department facilities operating safely for staff and visitors as it oversees the upkeep and maintenance for over 250 Department Facilities Citywide. FMD manages multiple facility renovations that support Department initiatives and unit relocations and is comprised of uniform, civilian, trades, professional and administrative staff.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
