The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is seeking two Community Assistants to support Pre-Employment Services. Roles include representing the department at recruitment events, screening applicants, coordinating with partner colleges, managing recruitment calendars, posting job ads, vetting resumes, and handling interview scheduling and inquiries.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with a comprehensive City benefits package and residency requirements.

Job description

The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.

The New York City Police Department Human Resources Division, Pre-Employment Services Unit seeks two (2) Community Assistants to assist with Department operations. The selected candidates will perform the following duties, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend recruitment and networking events representing the NYPD
  • Screen potential candidates for employment.
  • Act as the liaison to Colleges and Universities we partner with for information about upcoming recruitment events.
  • Manage calendar of recruitment events
  • Preparing and posting job advertisements online and in print media.
  • Vet resumes
  • Performing recruitment duties such as scheduling interviews, answering phone calls and monitoring emails.

HOURS/SHIFT: M-F; 9AM-5PM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In compliance with federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
