Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist in developing, preparing and administering the department's budget, providing financial analysis and monitoring to ensure effective oversight and financial management of funds.

You will conduct sound financial research, forecasting, and reporting to support management decisions, coordinate with departments, and help ensure compliance with city policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, public administration, finance or business.
• Three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, budget planning/monitoring or professional accounting.
• Equivalencies: various degree/experience substitutions described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the annual operating budget including capital, grants, community development, or trusts; prepare budget documents reflecting expenditures and costs.
• Perform special projects; create forecasting models, trend analysis and other financial projections for management.
• Prepare routine reports (cost analysis, performance data, financial target analyses, expenditure and revenue status).
• Review council agenda items for financial data; coordinate with staff on budget development and submissions.
• Communicate with departments, managers, auditors, and service providers to obtain or provide information and resolve issues.
• Oversee payments, receivables, payables, and general revenues; perform account reconciliation and grant reimbursements.
• Coordinate annual budget development with staff, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed.
