Job summary

D2 Technical Services is seeking a Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer with a TS/SCI clearance to support our intelligence customer. Work includes developing virtualized packages for mission baseline applications, validating behavior with testers, and optimizing sequencing across non-persistent VDI environments.

Occasional travel to Arnold, MO, or Springfield, VA may be required. The role requires a strong background in virtualization technologies (VMware Horizon, Citrix), Windows

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration/Virtualization
• 01M Level II certification
• 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft RD Services
• 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable virtualization tech (App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes)
• Proficient knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop virtualized packages for mission baseline applications for VDI and thick clients
• Collaborate with testers and SMEs to validate mission application behavior
• Implement and optimize application sequencing and persistence settings across sessions
• Identify automation opportunities to streamline sequencing
• Assist with infrastructure configuration for delivery of applications
• Improve backup, disaster recovery, and continuity plans
• Create and maintain detailed designs, test plans, and training guides

**ACTIVE TS/SCI SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED**

As a Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a TS/SCI cleared Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Arnold, MO or Springfield, VA.

Responsibilities:

• Development of Virtualized packages for mission baseline applications
  • Applications will be consumed both by VDI sessions and thick clients
  • Applications include those with plugins and advanced graphics requirements
• Work with application testers and mission SME’s to validate mission application behavior
• Incorporate any required sequencing changes into the app sequencing process
• Identify facets of user application settings (registry, AppData, etc) that need to be persisted across sessions in a non-persistent VDI environment
• Identify automation opportunities for application sequencing and work with the engineering team to streamline the sequencing process for mission applications once established
• Assist the virtualization team and VDI team with application delivery infrastructure configuration as needed
• Improve backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations
• Articulate knowledge, discoveries, designs, etc rapidly and concisely in written detailed designs, test plans and test cases, implementation plans, operational guides, and training guides under project management time and cost-constrained deadlines
• Perform work without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude in the determination of technical objectives of assignments
• Work with VMware software defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Analyze, test, and apply regular security patches and software update as required
• Incident resolution and fulfillment of software requests
• Create and maintain technical documentation and provide training to team members
• Performs all other work as assigned

What you’ll need to succeed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization (additional education, training, certifications, or work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree)
• 01M Level II certification
• 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies, including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
• 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes, etc)
• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities
• Ability to analyze and apply virtualization product capabilities to changing program requirements
• Good work ethic and active desire to learn
• Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired:

• Experience with Windows Desktop (10/11) and Server (12+) Operating systems
• Utilizing scripting and automation tools (e.g. Powershell) to automate tasks and manage deployments
• Experience with non-persistent desktop environments
• Experience with profile management solutions such as VMware DEM or Liquidware Labs’ Profile-Unity
• Familiarity with Active Directory, specifically Group Policy
• Understanding of load-balancing application delivery services
• Understanding of ITIL principles
• Able to create architectural design documents and presentations
• Able to test and apply hardware and software updatesUnderstand architectural frameworks such as TOGAF
• Virtualization computer environment certification (i.e. VMware Certified Associate for Data Center Virtualization, VCA-DCV)
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (Service+, ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)

Travel

• There will be occasional trips to the customer site in Arnold, MO
