Job summary

D2 Technical Services is seeking a Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer with an active TS/SCI security clearance to support our intelligence customer in Arnold, MO or Springfield, VA. You will develop virtualization packages for baseline mission applications, validate behavior with testers, and optimize app sequencing across non-persistent VDI environments.

Candidate should bring 5+ years of virtualization experience, expertise with VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and desktops, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration/Virtualization
• 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies (VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and desktops, or RDS)
• 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable technology
• Strong knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities
• Ability to analyze and apply virtualization capabilities to changing program requirements
• Proactive, with good communication and time-management skills
• Experience with Windows Desktop/Server operating systems
• Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell) to automate tasks
• Experience with non-persistent desktop environments
• Familiarity with AD, including Group Policy
• Understanding of load-balancing and ITIL
• Capability to create design docs and presentations
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (Service+, ServiceNow, Remedy)

Responsibilities

• Develop virtualization packages for mission baseline applications
• Collaborate with testers and SMEs to validate application behavior
• Incorporate sequencing changes into app sequencing processes
• Identify settings to persist across sessions in non-persistent VDIs
• Identify automation opportunities to streamline sequencing
• Assist delivery infra configuration as needed
• Improve backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations
• Produce detailed designs, test plans, and operating guides
• Work with VMware SDDC tools for troubleshooting and tuning
• Apply regular security patches and software updates
• Resolve incidents and fulfill software requests
• Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials
• Perform other assigned work

As a Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a TS/SCI cleared Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Arnold, MO or Springfield, VA.

Responsibilities:

• Development of Virtualized packages for mission baseline applications
  • Applications will be consumed both by VDI sessions and thick clients
  • Applications include those with plugins and advanced graphics requirements
• Work with application testers and mission SME's to validate mission application behavior
• Incorporate any required sequencing changes into the app sequencing process
• Identify facets of user application settings (registry, AppData, etc) that need to be persisted across sessions in a non-persistent VDI environment
• Identify automation opportunities for application sequencing and work with the engineering team to streamline the sequencing process for mission applications once established
• Assist the virtualization team and VDI team with application delivery infrastructure configuration as needed
• Improve backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations
• Articulate knowledge, discoveries, designs, etc rapidly and concisely in written detailed designs, test plans and test cases, implementation plans, operational guides, and training guides under project management time and cost-constrained deadlines
• Perform work without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude in the determination of technical objectives of assignments
• Work with VMware software defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Analyze, test, and apply regular security patches and software update as required
• Incident resolution and fulfillment of software requests
• Create and maintain technical documentation and provide training to team members
• Performs all other work as assigned

What you’ll need to succeed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization (additional education, training, certifications, or work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree)
• 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies, including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
• 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes, etc)
• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities
• Ability to analyze and apply virtualization product capabilities to changing program requirements
• Good work ethic and active desire to learn
• Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with Windows Desktop (10/11) and Server (12+) Operating systems
• Utilizing scripting and automation tools (e.g. Powershell) to automate tasks and manage deployments
• Experience with non-persistent desktop environments
• Experience with profile management solutions such as VMware DEM or Liquidware Labs' Profile-Unity
• Familiarity with Active Directory, specifically Group Policy
• Understanding of load-balancing application delivery services
• Understanding of ITIL principles
• Able to create architectural design documents and presentations
• Able to test and apply hardware and software updates
• Understand architectural frameworks such as TOGAF
• Virtualization computer environment certification (i.e. VMware Certified Associate for Data Center Virtualization, VCA-DCV)
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (Service+, ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)

Travel

• There will be occasional trips to the customer site in Arnold, MO
