Job summary

The Town of Berthoud is seeking a Permit Tech 1 to provide essential support in the Community Development Department. You will handle building, right of way, and development permits, respond to customers, and ensure records are accurate and up-to-date.

You will prepare fees, issue permits upon payment, verify contractor registrations, and assist with final inspections. A valid Colorado driver’s license and ICC certification within 1 year are required.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• ICC certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License required.
• 1 year of Permit Tech work experience required; municipal experience preferred.
• 2–4 years of Permit Tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and coordinate building, right of way, and development permits.
• Assist customers at the counter and answer emails/voicemails.
• Prepare permit fees and estimates; issue permits when paid.
• Validate contractor registrations and assist with inspections coordination.
• Scan and upload documents to electronic records and update forms.
