Job summary

Versa Networks seeks a hands-on Chief Information Security Officer to design and execute an enterprise-wide security strategy. The ideal candidate blends strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, driving policy, governance, and compliance while actively participating in day-to-day security operations.

This builder-protector will embed secure design across business, technology, and culture, manage risk, and lead a high-performing security team to protect critical assets and data.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3+ years in a senior security leadership role.
• Experience implementing and operating modern security frameworks across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Deep technical understanding of security infrastructure, SIEM, EDR, network security, IAM, application security, and cryptography.
• Hands-on involvement in incident response and threat management.
• Strong knowledge of compliance, governance, risk management, and audit processes.
• Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and enterprise customers on security matters.
• CISSP, CISM, CISA, or SANS GIAC certifications are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the company's information security vision, roadmap, and operating model.
• Align security initiatives with business goals, ensuring risk-based prioritization.
• Drive security posture maturity across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and endpoints.
• Oversee and manage the SOC, incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
• Build and run playbooks for threat mitigation and breach containment.
• Ensure rapid, high-quality incident resolution.
• Stay engaged in security architecture reviews, secure SDLC, penetration testing, and cloud security configurations.
• Review and enforce IAM, zero trust, encryption, and secure networking policies.
• Work with engineering, IT, DevOps, and product teams on secure-by-design implementation.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST; lead audits and risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Engage with customers and peers to build credibility on security matters.
• Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability; mentor security team; report to leadership.
