Medix is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room team in Mount Laurel Township, NJ. This role focuses on perioperative patient care, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers and the care team to ensure safety and high quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced surgical environment. Shifts are Monday-Tuesday with occasional Wednesdays/Thursdays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, active state RN license in good standing.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other team members.
• Ability to work in a high-stress surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients throughout the perioperative episode of care and develop individualized care plans.
• Monitor patient status and evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
• Promote patient safety and advocate for patients throughout the surgical experience.
• Maintain aseptic technique, radiation safety, fire safety, and standard precautions.
• Safely administer medications using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Perform interventions to maintain wound and tissue perfusion, normothermia, and prevent SSI.
• Complete surgical counts to prevent retained items.
• Label specimens according to facility policies.
• Follow Universal Protocol, site verification, and surgical time-out procedures.
• Provide accurate hand-off reports and communicate patient status to the care team.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Educate patients and support persons on pain management, wound care, and psychosocial needs.

Schedule: Monday–Tuesday primarily, with occasional Wednesdays/Thursdays
Hours: Start times between 7:30 AM–8:30 AM; end times around 4:00 PM–5:00 PM
Schedule: Typically provided one month in advance and may adjust based on the surgical schedule

Responsibilities

Participate in safety huddles, quality improvement initiatives, team meetings, and performance evaluations.

Delegate tasks appropriately in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and nursing standards.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Current, active state RN license in good standing.

Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and teamwork skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Ability to work effectively in a high-stress surgical environment.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and assist with positioning and handling patients.

Ability to work with exposure to bodily fluids and radiation while following appropriate safety precautions.

Required Certifications

Candidates must possess or obtain the following certifications within 90 days of employment:

BLS/BCLS

ACLS

1+ year of Operating Room and/or Medical-Surgical nursing experience

This position primarily works Mondays and Tuesdays, which are the busiest surgical days. There may also be opportunities or requirements to work Wednesdays and Thursdays depending on the surgical schedule.

Start times typically range from 7:30 AM–8:30 AM

End times are generally around 4:0 0 PM–5:00 PM

Schedule is typically created one month in advance

Schedule may change based on daily surgical case volume and operational needs
