Job summary

Westside Library is seeking a Director of Circulation Services to lead the Circulation Department, manage staff, and uphold the library’s service standards. The role requires a Master’s in Library Science, 3 years of public library experience, and supervisory skills.

The position oversees vendor relations, procedures, reporting, and systemwide training, with a 40-hour workweek and flexible scheduling as needed. A strong customer-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library school, with three years of public library and supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of professional library principles, procedures and practices.
• Experience with Integrated Library Systems (ILS), particularly Polaris.

Responsibilities

• Develops objectives and communicates Circulation Services philosophy to staff and patrons.
• Manages Circulation Department staff, including hiring, scheduling, and training.
• Maintains Circulation Manual and trains staff on policies and procedures.
• Communicates with vendors for library card orders and circulation-related services.
