Job Purpose

Perform a variety of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly troubleshooting operations based on verbal or written instructions, drawings, or diagrams. Use tools such as power supplies, Digital Multi Meters, Oscilloscopes, Frequency Generators, Schematics, and Bills of Materials to identify root causes of defects on NPI, Production, and Customer Service Ultrasound circuit boards and high-level assemblies. Each assembly involves functional testing, resident self-test, imaging, and data entry for device history record keeping.

Nature of Duties
  1. Operate various hand tools.
  2. Perform troubleshooting and testing of complex digital printed circuit boards for medical devices.
  3. Follow written instructions from formal procedures.
  4. Lift or move materials usually not exceeding 35 pounds.
  5. Read work instructions and procedures as needed.
  6. Read complex schematics (over 100 pages) with digital logic circuitry on boards with over 16,000 components.
  7. Surface Mount Device (SMD) troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  8. Identify root causes of failures.
  9. Rework and repair printed circuit boards and test to confirm correct operation.
  10. Work independently.
  11. Stand for long periods as required.
  12. Use schematics to identify failures in multi-layer circuit boards (up to 20 layers, over 16,000 components), requiring a deep understanding of electronic circuits.
Qualifications
  • Associate's in Applied Science in Electronics or Computer Engineering, military/technical school equivalent, or 6+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to use data collection software for input and analysis during repairs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Substantial understanding of the job, applying knowledge and skills across tasks.
  • Work with minimal instruction on daily tasks and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Interpret work instructions, schematics, drawings, and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Use necessary equipment for rework on defective components.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
