Job summary

The Community College of Aurora is seeking a Cinematic Arts Lab Tech (Work-Study) at the Lowry Campus in Denver. The role supports the Cinematic Arts Equipment Room, provides equipment training and assists with daily operations, inventory, and events.

You will assist with check-outs/check-ins, maintain orderly spaces, learn new cinema technology, and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Attend the Community College of Aurora Department of Cinematic Arts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Apple computer technology for inventory & communication.
  • Be able to move and lift heavy equipment (up to 50lbs).
  • Be able to work in a loud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional face-to-face customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Conduct equipment inventory and routine maintenance.
  • Prepare orders and oversee equipment check-outs and returns.
  • Maintain organization & cleanliness of the Equipment Room and common spaces.
  • Learn new cinema technology and pass that knowledge along to peers and customers.
  • Train students, faculty, and staff on equipment and High-Value rooms.
  • Organize and maintain the prop/set dec inventory and storage areas.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and tear-down of events at Lowry Studios.
  • Participate in department operations and communications tasks (daily upkeep, doorbell oversight, posting of flyers, creation of digital content/graphic design).
  • Establish and maintain clear and open communication with staff and supervisors.
  • Be on time and ready to work with a positive attitude.

Job Summary:

Lab Techs serve as the front-line customer service team for the Cinematic Arts Equipment Room (the “Cage”). They provide equipment training and support to students and faculty for coursework and productions, while preparing and managing equipment orders. Successful Lab Techs are proactive problem-solvers who take initiative, inspect equipment for damage, perform routine maintenance, and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workspace. In addition, Lab Techs support daily operations at Lowry Studios, assist with department events, communications, and oversee the inventory, organization, and upkeep of props and set decoration inventory.

Work-Study Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a completed FAFSA on file
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours
  • Must not have already earned a first bachelor’s degree
  • Must be pursuing an eligible program of study

Selection Process:

All submitted applications will undergo an initial review to verify work-study eligibility. Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will have their applications forwarded to the hiring manager for consideration. The hiring manager will contact selected candidates to schedule an interview. Applicants who do not meet work-study eligibility requirements will not be advanced in the selection process. Questions regarding work-study eligibility should be directed to the Financial Aid Office.
