Job summary

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is seeking a part-time Assistant Cinema Manager to work with the Cinema Management Team, Projectionists and Programmers to operate BAM’s four-screen cinema in downtown Brooklyn. The role oversees Floor Staff and handles box office, concessions and customer service.

The incumbent will promote BAM’s award-winning programming, including BAM Film, BAMcinemaFest and first-run films, while meeting revenue and safety goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Some supervisory experience required.
• Experience working at a movie theater is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn POS system for concession stand and ticket box office.
• Count and log cash sales daily.
• Issue sales reports to film distributors.
• Coordinate with Security, Custodial, Facilities, Membership, Special Events to ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee and assist in Q&A’s and Special Events.
• Train and manage Floor Staff.
• Assist customers with ADA needs.
• Monitor health and safety issues.
• Daily upkeep of cinema space and equipment.
• Staying onsite during closing and ensuring all customers have left.
