Johnson Electric in Vandalia, OH is seeking a Continuous Improvement Process Engineer to elevate existing manufacturing processes and drive cost reductions. You will develop standardized manufacturing processes, lead time studies, and design fixtures or tooling to improve safety, quality and throughput.

Collaborating with Operations, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering, you will implement lean initiatives and track performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Develop standardized processes, work instructions and process documentation.
  • Conduct time studies, labor analysis and line balancing to boost efficiency.
  • Lead cost savings initiatives from concept to validation and ROI calculations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements with minimal disruption.
  • Facilitate root cause analyses and implement corrective actions using structured problem solving.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing reviews to improve manufacturability and cost.
  • Drive Lean initiatives including 6S, visual management, and KPI tracking.

Join Our Team as a Continuous Improvement Process Engineer at Johnson Electric!Location: [Vandalia, OH] (onsite)Vacancy Type: Existing positionAs our next Continuous Improvement Process Engineer, you’ll be supporting all aspects of JE manufacturing, with the primary focus on improving existing products and manufacturing processes. Your primary goals will include developing standardized manufacturing processes, improving production efficiency through industrial engineering principles, leading cost reduction initiatives, and managing continuous improvement projects. You will partner closely with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the facility.Why You’ll Love Working Here:Innovative Environment: Work on cutting-edge technologies and innovative projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible.Professional Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development through training programs and workshops.Collaborative Culture: A supportive and collaborative work environment where teamwork and knowledge sharing are encouraged.Competitive Compensation: Attractive salary packages and comprehensive benefits that reward your hard work and dedication.Global Presence: Be part of a global company with diverse teams and the opportunity to work on international projects.What You’ll Be Doing:Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities.Develop and maintain standardized manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process documentation.Perform time studies, labor analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.Identify and implement productivity improvements that reduce scrap, improve throughput, and increase capacity.Design and implement manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.Lead cost savings initiatives from concept through implementation, including project planning, execution, and validation.Maintain and report cost savings metrics, project status, and continuous improvement performance to leadership.Support capital equipment justification by developing cost-benefit analyses and return-on-investment (ROI) calculations.Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs.Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 6S, standardized work, visual management, continuous flow improvements and KPI Metrics (OEE, Scrap, Downtime, etc.)Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements while minimizing disruption to production.Support production with troubleshooting of manufacturing process issues and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.Develop manufacturing layouts and material flow improvements to maximize operational efficiency.What We’re Looking For:Strong knowledge of industrial engineering principles and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.Experience with process improvement, line balancing, time studies, and workflow optimization.Experience in developing, training, implementing OEE.Experience designing manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids.Experience managing multiple continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.Knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.Experience performing manufacturing data analysis using Microsoft Excel or similar software.Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.Self-starter with leadership and interpersonal skills.Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline.3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Bonus Points If You Have:Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certifications.Experience with value stream mapping, takt time analysis, and capacity planning.Experience supporting automated or high-volume manufacturing environments.Knowledge of ERP/MES systems and manufacturing performance metrics.Experience leading Kaizen events and cross-functional improvement teams.How to Apply:Apply online at www.johnsonelectric.com — We can’t wait to meet you!Come join our global, inclusive & diverse teamOur purpose is to improve the quality of life of everyone we touch through our innovative motion systems.
